I live in the Pennsylvania countryside, about 140 miles / 225 km west of Philadelphia, on the east coast of the US, between New York and Washington. I moved here from England over 20 years ago, although I have 2 sons who live in England.
I have played correspondence chess since I left University through the British Correspondence Chess Association and joined the CIF (Chess in Friendship) a number of years ago. I retired 5 years ago and am now spending my time doing volunteer work for environmental organizations, when we are not traveling.
We live in a house in the woods and border a large state forest. The location means that we can just about see our neighbors on either side, but nobody else. I do value greatly being able to step out of the house and just go running through the woods (or skiing, or snowshoeing).
As well as playing chess, I like orienteering, skiing, and hiking, and generally being out of doors. We are also great travelers, so I will be asking for some breaks in our games.
